A longtime friend of Sean “Diddy” Combs says the music mogul survived a frightening knife attack in prison.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Charlucci Finney claimed an inmate bearing a shiv snuck into Combs’ cell inside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where the Bad Boy Records founder has been behind bars since September 2024.
The unnamed inmate put the knife up to Combs’ throat as he slept, Finney alleged.
“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney said. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came. I just know it happened.”

Regardless of how the encounter ended, Finney believes the inmate did not intend to harm the 55-year-old celebrity, only scare him.
“If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed,” Finney said. “It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.
“It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky. Everything is intimidation. But with Sean it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
Combs faces several more years in prison
Combs first entered the Metropolitan Detention Center last fall when he was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and prostitution.
In July, a jury cleared “Diddy” of the most serious charges, but convicted the New York City native of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
On Oct. 3, Combs was sentenced by Judge Arun Subramanian to 50 months in prison. Combs’ lawyers have been angling to have their client transferred to a cushier facility for the remainder of his term.
His attorneys also claimed last month, prior to the sentencing, that Combs has been on suicide watch behind bars and was also approached by an inmate with a shiv, though it’s unclear if they are referring to the same incident Finney is discussing.
