Val Kilmer’s famous friends and costars showed their support at the late actor’s celebration of life.
Stars such as Jack Black, Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Slash and Daryl Hannah attended the memorial held at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Sunday, according to TMZ.
Jerry Bruckheimer and Oliver Stone — who worked with Kilmer on Deja Vu and The Doors, respectively — were also in attendance.
Kilmer died on April 1 after a long health battle. The Top Gun actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015.
However, Kilmer did not officially acknowledge his diagnosis at the time, instead referring to it as “the suggestion of throat cancer.”
“I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation. I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the ucla ICU,” he shared at the time. “Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there’s minimum gossip and silly talk. I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say.”
Kilmer ultimately underwent chemotherapy, despite it being against his religion, after pressure from his children, as well as two tracheotomies.
Kilmer’s final role was a reprisal as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick.
After an autopsy, his official cause of death was listed as pneumonia. He was 65.
