Gauteng residents will wake up to chilly conditions on Wednesday, 6 August. Still, temperatures are expected to rise slightly during the day, offering relief from the cold front sweeping through central South Africa.
Forecaster Odirile Modipa confirmed that while overnight lows hovered around 6°C in Johannesburg and 7°C in Pretoria, daytime temperatures will edge upwards.
“Johannesburg can expect a maximum of 22°C, while Pretoria will warm up to around 23°C,” Modipa said.
Partly Cloudy Skies Across Gauteng
Gauteng will enjoy mostly clear to partly cloudy skies throughout the day. Unlike other parts of the country hit by thunderstorms and snow, the province remains dry and stable.
“Gauteng is not in the path of severe weather activity,” said Modipa.
“We’re seeing more settled conditions compared to the central and southern parts of the country.”
Cold Nights to Continue
Despite the daytime warm-up, cold nights remain a concern. Residents are advised to dress warmly as nighttime temperatures drop below 10°C.
