Gauteng welcomes warmer spring weather – Bundlezy

Gauteng welcomes warmer spring weather

Gauteng has stepped firmly into spring, with sunny skies and rising temperatures across the province. Johannesburg started the morning at a cool 13°C, while Pretoria registered 15°C, marking a shift away from the icy mornings of recent weeks.

Joel Guy, a forecaster, said: “The weather is indeed looking more like spring in most parts of the country, with lots of sunshine and warm to hot temperatures.”

Fire risks on the horizon in Gauteng

While residents can look forward to pleasant weather, authorities have warned of potential fire hazards due to the combination of high temperatures, dry conditions, and strong winds.

Guy explained: “Because of those strong winds and dry conditions with hot temperatures, we have conditions that could lead to runaway fires across much of the interior.”

Temperatures are expected to climb significantly during the afternoon. Pretoria will reach 31°C in Gauteng, while parts of Limpopo will soar to 39°C. Polokwane is forecast at 31°C, with even hotter conditions recorded in the Lowveld.

Heat Intensifies in Northern Areas

Guy warned that the hot weather would be particularly intense in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

“In the Lowveld, we are expecting sizzling hot conditions, with some areas exceeding 40°C,” he said.

Gauteng residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and exercise caution with open flames.

Do you think Gauteng’s residents are prepared for hotter-than-usual spring weather and the risks that come with it?
