GAYTON MCKENZIE RESPONDS TO GLEN GABELA’S DESPERATE PLEA FOR HELP

The struggling actor has been the talk of social media after a video of him asking for help went viral.

The clip shows his dusty bedroom lined with accolades. It also reveals his fridge with only bottles of water and an almost empty cupboard.

Gabela revealed that he is battling hardship and appealed for financial support. On Thursday, 14 August 2025, the minister responded to social media user @kingmntungwa, who had tagged him in Gabela’s viral video on X, prompting a wave of reactions online.

“Thanks, will follow up and revert back today. This is extremely sad.”

GLEN GABELA ASKS FOR HELP

While pleading for financial assistance, the actor said he simply wants to live a decent life.

“I want a decent life, to be treated with dignity like every normal person. That’s why I am reaching out. I’m trying to engage with people because I want to grow the film industry, so that young and upcoming performers don’t end up like us,” he said

“You listen to the stories of top actors when they pass [away], you listen to the stories told and how they struggled. Almost all of us, when we reach this age, reach a stage where we … it’s a pity I am not able to ask for help. It’s hard for me to ask for help. That’s all I need, just to live decently, I don’t need to be rich. I just need to live a decent life,” he added.
