A gelato shop owner in Monte Carlo, Monaco, has shed light on the alleged romance between the world’s top-ranked men’s tennis player, Jannik Sinner, and Danish model Laila Hasanovic.
According to the Italian-language site, Corriere Della Sport, Sinner and Hasanovic frequent the shop, and the owners, Roberto and Nicoletta Stampfl, have confirmed the romance to a site called the Weekly Dipi, indicating that the Danish model is, indeed, Sinner’s “girlfriend.”
The comments come on the heels of talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asking model Brooks Nader whether she is dating Sinner; she dodged the question but also indicated that she attended a different U.S. Open match on Aug. 31. It featured Carlos Alcaraz, not Sinner.
Sinner meets Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime at the U.S. Open semifinal on Sept. 5.

“Sinner and Laila Hasanovic live in the La Condamine district of Monte Carlo. Our shop is right under their building,” Nicoletta Stampfl said, according to a translation of the Corriere site.
“I really liked Laila, she is very nice as Jannik is.” The site says they speak English with each other, calling Hasanovic “beautiful” and “very simple,” and adding that Sinner is an “expert in ice cream.”
“Sinner..tastes before deciding. But in the end, he always chooses pistachio and black cherry, his favorite tastes. When he played and trained here, he always came to get the ice cream,” Stampfl said, according to the site.
Jannik Sinner Revealed That He Does Have a Girlfriend
With the U.S. Open looming, Sinner confirmed to the Italian-language site Corriere Della Sera that he does have a girlfriend.
He also said that he is “in love,” but he did not offer her name. Fans believe they spotted Hasanovic’s picture on Sinner’s cell phone when the television broadcast caught a view of it during a match at the U.S. Open.
While Sinner prepared to play at the U.S. Open on Sept. 5, Hasanovic’s Instagram page was posting a post about a fragrance. Her page, which says she is from Copenhagen, does not mention Sinner.
Sinner denied having a girlfriend in May when he was spotted walking in Monaco with another model. He dated and broke up with professional tennis player Anna Kalinskaya in the past.
