In the opening scene of the music video “The Fate of Ophelia”, Taylor Swift takes on the role of Ophelia and transforms into a living painting.
The museum’s director, Andreas Henning, acknowledged, in statements to the German news agency dpathat there are similarities between Heyser’s work and the music video scene.
Museum spokeswoman Susanne Hirschmann told the agency The Associated Press (AP) that the museum team recognized the similarities earlier this month and decided to invite Taylor Swift fans for a special visit. As soon as the ad was published, Ophelia’s painting went viral on the Internet.
For the special guided tour scheduled for November 2nd, it was announced that anyone who showed up dressed as Taylor Swift or Ophelia would be entitled to free entry. The session has already sold out, which has led the museum to consider allowing additional visits.
The museum has already tried to contact the singer, but has not yet been successful, not knowing whether that particular work of art was the inspiration for Swift’s music video, the fashionable artist in the United States and several other countries.
