Getting started with AI – a strategy workshop for the management team at Bähren Pharma-Packaging
At the beginning of April we were allowed one Strategy workshop on the topic of getting started with AI with the management circle of the Wilhelm Bähren GmbH & Co. KG from Mönchengladbach as part of their annual strategy meeting at the Mercure Hotel in Kaarst. At this point we would like to once again express our thanks to all 11 participants for their committed cooperation and the great workshop atmosphere.
In the workshop itself, in the introductory part there was a Understanding how artificial intelligence (AI) works conveyed. Using image and speech recognition models, it was explained what AI is, what AI can do and what opportunities, limitations and risks are associated with AI. The limitations of AI, which always refers to algorithmic probabilities, were made clear using the example of Bähren’s specific products, e.g. the package inserts for medications. Here are legal regulations for pharmaceutical products is so restrictive that the use of AI without subsequent human inspection, for example for quality monitoring in production (printing), can be ruled out from the outset.
In a second part were in a Ideas workshop other possible areas of application of AI for the Bähren company were identified and then discussed in small groups We jointly developed concrete implementation ideas and procedures. Several examples of AI applications were developed, particularly in the areas of production scheduling, error prevention, quotation creation and commercial administration Synergies be created beyond the individual specialist areas and which combine the interests of other areas and combine them in a common IT strategy.
In the future, the topic of AI will be discussed further among Bähren’s management team and priorities will be set where, for example, as part of a pilot project, initial positive experiences with AI in the company can best be gained. The Future Center has already offered a willingness to provide further intensive advice for a specially selected project with a high degree of added value.
