It seems no one is safe from cyberattacks.
The latest victim is award-winning political cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro, better known as Zapiro, whose Facebook page was hacked.
HACK CONFIRMED
The account confirmed the breach, urging followers to ignore all recent posts as well as any messages or requests.
“Hoping to have this sorted out ASAP,” the page stated.
Zapiro’s account, which usually showcases his latest satirical works, was suddenly flooded with profane updates and one bizarre post claiming he hoped to find $999,999 on the floor.
DELETED POSTS
The page also shared content about slain US right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, as well as before-and-after photos of the Delray Beach Pride mural in Florida, which was sandblasted earlier this month.
The caption read: “Florida just obliterated the LGBTQ mural in Delray Beach. Does this upset you?”

While some followers quickly recognised the posts as out of character, others expressed anger and said they were now questioning Zapiro’s work. The hacked posts have since been removed.
Zapiro, known for his hard-hitting satirical cartoons, has faced legal battles in the past. Former President Jacob Zuma sued him twice – first over the 2006 cartoon dropped in 2013, and again over the 2008 Lady Justice cartoon, dropped in 2012. Earlier this year, the Deputy Press Ombud called for Zapiro’s cartoon The Boys Who Cried Wolf to be retracted.
