We know monochrome has always been a huge fashion trend, but it has made its way into the swimwear department in recent years – not that we’re complaining.
A black and white swimsuit or bikini set is not only timeless, but flattering, chic and gives that old money aesthetic.
We have long lusted after Monday Swimwear’s Capri Top, which you can mix and match with any monochrome bottoms from the brand, but we could never justify £105 on just one separate.
Thankfully, New Look has heard our cries for chic and flattering swimwear to see us through the summer and upcoming holidays, as it has launched the Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top, which pairs beautifully with the Black Contrast Trim High Waisted Bikini Bottoms. Whether you shop the co-ord as separates or the full two-piece you will still save more than the Monday swimwear item.

Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top
Crafted from a polyester and elastane blend, with added lining for coverage. The underwired bikini top achieves a balconette bra style, is lightly padded, has thick adjustable straps and a back clasp. The bikini top is in black with white contrast details on the straps and cups. Available in 32B to 36D, as well as three colours.

Black Contrast Trim High Waisted Bikini Bottoms
The main bottoms have been crafted from a polyester and elastane blend, while the mesh inner is nylon and elastane hybrid and lining is polyester. The high rise bottoms have stretch for a comfortable fit without any gaping. It boasts a high leg as well as contrast white tie belt.
New Look’s Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top features the same balconette style shape as Monday Swimwear’s Capri Bikini Top, though arguably more coverage and support.
Both designs feature a black body and white contrast detail across the cups and straps, though New Look has a larger contrast border, which we prefer.
New Look’s design has been crafted from polyester and elastane, which is not too dissimilar to Monday Swimwear’s recycled nylon and spandex creation.

The shoulder straps are adjustable on both designs, though New Look’s straps are thicker and are more comfortable for those with bigger busts. The main difference is New Look’s bikini top has a back clasp, whereas Monday Swimwear’s creation has a tie back for a secure fit.
While New Look’s sizing is available in 32B to 36D cups, Monday Swimwear is a bit more obscure, as it comes in petite to very very voluptuous – thankfully there is a size guide to help you work it out.

Both colour block bikinis are sold as separates so shoppers can mix and match to find the perfect bottoms for them, though we would opt for New Look’s high rise bikini bottoms, or the Marseille or Costa Rica bottoms from Monday Swimwear.
While both designs may look similar, the price is glaringly different. New Look’s bikini top fetches just £19.99, while Monday Swimwear’s bikini top will set you back £105, which makes a saving of £85. If we add in New Look’s bikini bottoms for £14.99, which resemble Monday Swimwear’s Costa Rica bottoms at £90 you will save a further £75. So, in total New Look’s set will save you £160 in total.
We’d rather put that towards the next holiday tbh…
