Fears of WW3 are growing after the government told Brits to “actively prepare” for war, which includes creating an emergency survival kit full of essential items.
After tensions rose in Iran last week, the National Security Strategy scarily told Brits to prepare for the potential of war in the “homeland” in a new report.
“For the first time in many years, we have to actively prepare for the possibility of the UK homeland coming under direct threat, potentially in a wartime scenario,” they said.
On the “Get prepared for emergencies” page, the government says Brits should put together a survival kit full of supplies your household might need during an emergency.
They say emergencies can be caused by things like severe weather, accidents and infrastructure failure, but the same survival kit would apply for war too.
According to the UK government, all Brits should have these nine supplies ready for a potential emergency:
- Battery or wind-up torch
- Portable power bank
- Battery or wind-up radio (this is to get updates during an emergency)
- Spare batteries
- A first aid kit (including waterproof plasters, bandages, a thermometer, antiseptic, eyewash solution, sterile dressings and gloves, medical tape for dressings, and tweezers)
- Hand sanitiser and wet wipes
- Bottled water
- Non-perishable food
- Baby supplies (such as nappies and baby formula)

The government says to keep all these items in one place where they can easily be found, even if the lights aren’t working. It’s a good idea to keep them all in a “grab bag” that can be picked up quickly.
You should also keep some essential items in your car boot, like a torch, phone charger, warm clothes and blankets, high-visibility clothing, jump leads, food and drink, a shovel and a first aid kit.
If you can’t be bothered to put one together yourself, people are already selling World War III emergency kits on TikTok Shop. Of course they are.
