This weekend saw the shocking heist of eight priceless treasures from the world-famous Louvre musuem in Paris.
Dressed in hi-vis jackets, four robbers rode a basket lift before forcing a window open to smash into display cases and flee with the Napoleonic jewels.
The crown jewels snatched are said to be worth an estimated 88 million euros (£76 million).
But as the unbelievable heist continues to command the world’s attention, a Netflix series featuring a similar tale of thieves pulling off a daunting robbery can be binged on the streaming platform.
The heist-thriller Lupin, starring Omar Sy, is loosely based on Maurice Leblanc’s Gentleman Thief book.

In the first episode alone, Lupin (Sy) charms his way into the Louvre and manages to outwit a group of loan sharks to get away with a near-priceless diamond necklace.

When Lupin first premiered on Netflix in 2021, it proved to be a smash hit with audiences.
The series managed to rival Bridgerton in viewership numbers and was the most watched series on Netflix for a certain time period.
When Part 3 premiered two years later, it also cracked the International Top 10 Netflix List.
And fans will be able to enjoy even more drama when the part four of the series airs, although a release date has not been confirmed yet.
Writing on IMDb at the time of its original release, amassady wrote: ‘The series, featuring the talented Omar Sy, was so engaging and thrilling that I found myself binge-watching all of the episodes in just one day.’

Esjacobs added: ‘Loved it, it is gripping, entertaining, smart with many twists and turns. Sure there are some loopholes but I don’t care about it at all. And it did not make it any less fun to watch.’
Paris public prosecutor Laure Beccuau has announced that police are now hunting four suspects from the (real-life) gang who stole the priceless jewellery from the Louvre.
Ms Beccuau said that the monetary estimate does not include their historical value to France.
The prosecutor, whose office is leading the heist probe, said about 100 investigators are now involved in the police hunt for the suspects and gems after Sunday’s brazen theft.

Authorities fear the one-of-a-kind, and therefore highly recognisable items, will be melted down and destroyed before thieves sell them on.
‘The wrongdoers who took these gems won’t earn 88 million euros if they had the very bad idea of disassembling these jewels,’ Ms Beccuau said in an interview with broadcaster RTL.
‘We can perhaps hope that they’ll think about this and won’t destroy these jewels without rhyme or reason.’
Lupin is available to watch on Netflix.
