Although there are many places throughout Mexico where people talk about the presence of ghosts, witches, demons, goblins and other entities, here we bring you 5 places that you should visit to get a “good scare.”
1. Real de Catorce, San Luís Potosí
This magical town keeps stories of ghosts and demons in its streets and inside its old buildings. A few years ago it was a gold and silver mining center, but when the resources ran out, at the beginning of the 20th century, it was completely abandoned.
This caused it to become a ghost town.

Among their legends, one hears one about Jergas. Many people claim to have seen the lost soul of this poor miner who died working in the mine.

2. Island of the Dolls, Xochimilco
The trajineras of Xochimilco are one of the busiest places in Mexico City. Hundreds of people walk around the lake while singing, eating and drinking.
In one of its canals there is a chinampa, one of the most terrifying places in Xochimilco: the Island of the Dolls. Here there is a house that belonged to a man named Julián Santana Barrera, the watchman of the island. One day he found, on the banks of the chinampas, the body of a girl who drowned tangled among the canal lilies. It is said that in her honor he decided to fill the island with hundreds of dolls.
3. Lake Camécuaro, Michoacán
Around 1,400 square meters covers Lake Camécuaro, in Michoacán. The national park that bears the same name protects a love story that ended in tragedy.
The story begins with Princess Huanita, who was in love with Tangáxhuan, nephew and heir of Tariácuri, founder of the Purépecha Empire. Although their love was pure, the relationship could not happen because she was kidnapped by a priest named Candó. Since she could never see her loved again, the princess did not stop crying, so, from her tears, Lake Camécuaro emerged.

Some people say they have seen this woman prowling around the lake, hunting people who go swimming to pull them by their feet and drown them so she can keep them for life.
4. House of the tubes, Monterrey
In the sixties, a father and his daughter in a wheelchair arrived in Monterrey to start a life together. The man ordered to build a house with ramps so that the young woman could walk around the place without problems.
The construction began without any setbacks, but as the days passed, the workers died mysteriously. Despite the circumstances, construction was completed. When the father and daughter finally moved into the house, more inexplicable events happened.
One day, out of nowhere, the girl fell from the roof and lost her life. Days later, in the midst of the madness, the father decided to take his own life. After this, the house was abandoned. There are people who claim that ghosts appeared inside.
5. La Rumorosa, Baja California
At the end of the last century they called it “the road of death” because of the accidents caused by its closed and dangerous curves. There are still remains of cars and cargo trucks trapped between the ravines. There are other legends: they say that several truck drivers have seen a ghost soldier who accompanies them during the curves.
It is called La Rumorosa because of the sound that the wind produces when hitting the rock formations that surround it.
