ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Hampton Lumber, a producer of sustainable building materials, announced Tuesday it has chosen Allendale County to establish the company’s first sawmill on the East Coast.
According to a statement from the Office of the Governor on June 24, the Oregon-headquartered company plans to invest $225 million in the new saw mill in South Carolina, creating at least 125 jobs.
The “state-of-the-art” 375,000-square-foot lumber mill will be constructed at Highway 321 and Barker Mill Pond Road in Fairfax. According to the company, this operation will specialize in producing Southern Yellow Pine framing lumber.
“The town of Fairfax welcomes Hampton Lumber to our community, and we look forward to working with the company as they prosper and grow their business here in Allendale County,” said Fairfax Mayor Albert “Butch” Sauls.
“Hampton Lumber’s decision to establish its first East Coast facility in South Carolina reflects confidence in our sustainably managed forests – now holding more timber than ever – and the strength of our world-class workforce,” said State Forester Scott Phillips.
Operations are expected to begin in 2027. Those interested in learning about Hampton Lumber’s career opportunities can visit the company’s website careers page.
