‘He won’t come back’: Ribeiro’s WC form worry Sundowns fans

Mamelodi Sundowns fans worry they might lose their star player, Lucas Ribeiro next season.

The 26-year-old forward has been instrumental in Downs’ FIFA Club World Cup campaign so far. The Brazilians have won one match, lost another in the group stages and will need a win to go through into the next round.

Having joined Sundowns in 2023, Ribeiro was unknown, having had unsuccessful stints in France and Belgium. In the two seasons he has played for Masandawana, the Brazilian attacker has scored 30 goals in 55 matches, winning two league titles.

Lucas Ribeiro has been the player to watch for Sundowns

This weekend, he scored a brilliant solo goal against Borussia Dortmund during his team’s 4-3 defeat. Football fans praised the forward for his performance throughout the match. The Brazilian will have the biggest game of his life when he faces his home team, Fluminense, on Wednesday.

Some fans are worried that Ribeiro might decide to join a European team during the pre-season and dump Sundowns.

“Can some team in Europe buy that Ribeiro? He has been terrorising former big teams in South Africa like Kaizer Chiefs. Thanks in advance for your indulgence…” tweeted @Skipper_0ne.

“We are losing Ribeiro guy another performance like today’s in the match Vs Fluminense, and he’s a gone boy Rayners too might get an Eastern Europe transfer if he scores in the next match,” tweeted @DatDude_Gwetse.

Will Ribeiro dump Masandawana?
