Heavy rainfall continues to affect Mpumalanga – Bundlezy

Heavy rainfall continues to affect Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga faces an increased risk of disruptive rainfall, with warnings highlighting the potential for localised flooding. Weather systems affecting Limpopo are expected to extend into Mpumalanga, bringing scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms.

Forecaster Phemelo Zonke said, “There is disruptive rainfall over the eastern and northern parts of Limpopo into the eastern parts of Mpumalanga, where localised flooding is possible.”

Disruptive rainfall dominates the forecast

Disruptive rainfall are expected to persist, particularly over the eastern parts of the province. These conditions may disrupt daily activities, agriculture, and road travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Zonke stressed the need for caution. “We are still expecting isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow over the central, northeastern as well as the eastern part of the country,” she said.

Cooler temperatures expected in high-lying areas

Alongside the rain, Mpumalanga will experience cooler temperatures, particularly in high-lying regions such as Ermelo. Daytime temperatures there are expected to reach a maximum of only 17°C.

“It will be a cold day in Ermelo with a maximum of 17,” Zonke noted.
