Heinz and Walkers team up to bring back limited edition item fans say is ‘absolute genius’

It was a collaboration we didn’t know we needed.

Two stalwarts of the supermarket shelves, Heinz and Walkers, have once again teamed up to bring back Heinz Scarily Good Monster Munch Mayonnaise.

After introducing the condiment last year, it’s back once more ahead of Halloween next month.

If you didn’t get to try it the first time around, the new sauce combines the the taste of pickled onion Monster Munch crisps, with a classic creamy mayo.

The sauce has so far proved pretty divisive among those who’ve dared to try it.

Some felt the mash up of the two brands was a match made in heaven.

Popular Instagram foodie reviewer, @johns_snackreviews gave the condiment a 9/10 and called it ‘absolute genius’.

John added: ‘It’s full of flavour, lovely texture and could work on literally any food. It’s identical to pickled onion monster munch… it’s full blown identical.

‘There’s no heavy stodgy texture or feeling afterwards.’

Commenters also called it a ‘game changer’ and ‘lovely.

Others, though, won’t so sure. ‘Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should,’ wrote a disappointed X user. While another claimed it was ‘disgusting.’

If you fancy trying it for yourself, you’ll need to be quick. It’s a limited run, back from 22 September — with Heinz and Walkers so far keeping the end date under wraps.

It’ll be available from selected retailers, as well as on the Heinz website for £2.90.

It’s not the first time Heinz has experimented with their cult products. Some eyebrow-raising items include Hot Cross Bun Mayonnaise and their Barbiecue sauce which, yes, was indeed pink in colour.

They’ve also previously partnered with Walkers and come up with three other mayonnaise flavours in the past: a Roast Chicken and Heinz Mayo flavour, Sausage Sarnie and Heinz Ketchup, followed by Cheese Toastie with Heinz Beanz.

Thiago Rapp, director of taste elevation at Kraft Heinz, said: ‘When we first launched Heinz [Scarily] Good Monster Munch Mayo last Halloween, we were amazed by the reaction, fans loved it.

‘We knew we had to bring it back. Halloween is bigger than ever in the UK, and this mayo is the perfect way to add a monstrous bite to any celebration.’
