People on Twitter and Reddit have consistently slammed Harry Cooksley and Helena Ford as toxic, with some even claiming that he “walks all over her” with little to no respect.
“It’s sad how she’s letting him walk all over her and laughing about it! The girl needs therapy,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Another Love Island viewer said,” I think Helena wishes she could graft and be as carefree as Harry is; also, I think she has very low self-esteem.”
Even Helena herself admitted it, telling Harry to his face: “You’re making me look stupid again! Literally every person that comes into the Villa says, ‘you let Harry walk all over you.’”
So, if she – and the rest of the nation – is fully aware of how their relationship is perceived, why is Helena letting her footballer boyfriend be an absolute menace? Helena’s friend and hairdresser, Natalie Clayton, reckons she knows the reason.
This might explain Harry and Helena’s Love Island romance

Natalie, who owns NCWeave in Merseyside, has known Helena for the last four years in both a professional and friendly capacity. All that time cutting her blonde tresses has given Natalie crucial insight into Helena’s motivations, wants, and needs.
“She’s had a rough time in there – the way that people are portraying her on social media, it’s just so unfair,” she told The Sun.
“I think she knows what Harry is like, and she’s never been in a relationship before, and that’s what people are forgetting, because she’s just, she’s just having fun. She doesn’t take life too seriously. She is one for just having fun and living her best life.”
Helena has been pretty open about never having been in a relationship, instead choosing to prioritise travelling and hanging with friends.
“So I think she’s just never met that right person where she’s wanted to settle down with them,” Natalie added.
I’m not sure that makes it any better, but at least we know why Helena is bending to Harry’s every whim.

She thinks Helena has recieved a bad edit
Also in the interview, Natalie detailed why she thinks Helena, and by extension Harry, have recieved a bad edit on the show.
She explained: “I think maybe the clips that have been heard have made it worse because I do think that Shakira has been worse with her than Helena has with Shakira, and I don’t understand why people can’t see that coming across.
“At the end of the day, they’ve just got a similar type, and they’ve both gone for the same person, and then she’s been portrayed like she keeps going for her men.
“But you can see Helena was shocked at that because she’s not even realised and just been like we’ve got the same type and she was joking about it. And then I think Shakira, from what’s been heard, she’s been talking about Helena a hell of a lot more.”
Despite the reaction to Helena on sites such as Twitter, Natalie thinks her friend can win the competition. She argued that the show would have been “boring” without Helena, and she’s not entirely wrong.
