Helldivers 2 PS5 fans are creating welcome tours for Xbox players online

PS5 and PC owners are more than happy to see new Helldivers 2 players arrive via the new Xbox port and have even offered advice on how to play.

Xbox may be going all in on multiplatform releases at the moment, but Sony is not against putting some of its PlayStation games on other platforms besides PC.

Granted, we’re probably not going to see The Last Of Us on Xbox any time soon, but Sony has shown an interest in more ports and had a hand in bringing Helldivers 2 (which it didn’t develop but did publish) to Xbox.

The port launched this week, bringing a new surplus of players to Sony’s live service shooter and while the launch has not been without issues, it seems the PlayStation and PC communities are trying to be as welcoming as possible.

Ahead of the game’s launch, a handful of long-time Helldivers 2 fans popped up on the Xbox subreddit to welcome newbies to the game. Many of the top comments in this thread, for example, are full of people fielding questions about the game.

One Redditor has called the port a ‘historical gaming moment,’ especially with the Gears Of War remaster launching on PlayStation 5 today as well. Not to mention Helldivers 2 is seeing Halo content through one of its battle passes, which will become available today at 1pm BST.

‘Sony publishing Helldivers 2 on Xbox and Microsoft publishing Gears of War on PlayStation. Hopefully in the future this will be a common occurrence.’

Another Redditor asked what time Xbox players would join the game since they ‘want to welcome the new reinforcements with the finest tools democracy has to offer.’

One thread includes a detailed explanation about what Helldivers 2 is, its gameplay loop, and mechanics, ending with a reassurance to Xbox players that they will die a lot and that’s to be expected: ‘Good luck, have fun, please don’t call extract unless the whole team is ready to go, and remember, you’re literally meant to die a lot. Love yooou.’

Meanwhile, one player who claims to have hit the max level in Helldivers 2 (level 150) has offered to answer any and all questions newcomers may have, promising that the community is full of ‘really nice people’ and doesn’t have ‘much toxicity, griefers, teamkillers etc.’

This suggests that most antagonism between PlayStation and Xbox owners has died out over the years, especially with Microsoft’s embrace of multiformat releases.

It also makes sense for the Helldivers 2 community to be enthusiastic about new players, since it’s a cooperative experience, with the premise of defending Super Earth and its colonies from various invading aliens.

Unfortunately, we have seen reports of players being met with an error code upon trying to start the game, but the good news is that this isn’t too drastic of an issue and should be an easy fix.

How to fix Helldivers 2 status 504 error

If you see an error code that reads ‘Request: 2, Error: 0, Status: 504’ while trying to play Helldivers 2, that means the issue lies with the servers themselves and not your copy of the game or platform of choice.

It’s typically caused either due to server maintenance or because they’re very busy; both of which are very likely given Helldivers 2 has only just launched on Xbox and is going to be inundated with players, new and old.

The simplest solution is to just leave it for a while and try to join later or reset your console/PC.
