Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s (June 30) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
If there’s one thing you can rely on Hollyoaks for, it’s a good twist. And not just any old good twist but one that turns everything on its head.
If you prefer your daily slices of the Channel 4 soap with such twists then you’re in luck as Monday’s offering of the serial drama serves up quite a big one, with unexpected passion ensuing between two characters.
Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) shared a bottle of plonk, discussed their emotional journeys over the past year and ultimately succumbed to temptation.
Oh boy.
The pair, who have been romantically entangled before when Tony cheated on Jacqui (Claire Cooper) with Merce, shared a passionate kiss before taking their encounter upstairs.
The moment comes just days after Tony found himself the subject of a very public showdown between Marie Fielding (Rita Simons) – who he was engaged to previously – and ex-wife Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher).
It was looking like sparks were on the cusp of flying for Tony and Diane once again, with both characters having grown closer while supporting Ro (Ava Webster).
Who should Tony be with?
-
Diane – they’re meant to be!
-
Marie – they were good together!
-
Mercedes – two Hollyoaks legends together!
Yes, the stages was set for the ultimate reunion, with even Marie encouraging Diane to give things with Tony another go.
The pub landlady excitedly decided to take a chance on love, cooking a romantic meal in the hopes of winning back her man.
Little did she know, however, that Tone was over at the McQueens, where one thing led to another with Mercy.

The unexpected passion came after Tony confronted Mercedes over harbouring killer Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe).
Will this unexpected turn of events scupper any hope of Tony and Diane getting back together? Will the soulmates reunite? Or will Tony and Mercedes prove to be more than just a one-night-stand?
