Hormel recalls 4.8 million pounds of ready-to-eat chicken

Hormel Foods Corporation has initiated a recall of four lots of ready-to-eat frozen chicken breast and thigh products totaling 4,874,815 pounds, due to possible contamination with foreign materials, specifically pieces of metal, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The problem was discovered when Hormel Foods received multiple complaints from food service customers. Investigations determined that the metal came from the conveyor belt used in production.
