Hot and mostly sunny conditions are expected in Gauteng – Bundlezy

Hot and mostly sunny conditions are expected in Gauteng

Gauteng residents woke to relatively mild morning temperatures, with Johannesburg starting at 17°C. Pretoria began warmer, already climbing towards the upper 20s.

Forecaster Joel Guy states, “Hammanskraal, Pretoria, and surrounding areas will push past the 30-degree mark this afternoon, making it one of the hottest days this week.”

The interior of Gauteng experienced cooler starts compared to coastal regions, but the quick rise in temperatures has made the province’s weather particularly striking.

Sunny and clear skies with fire danger risks

Conditions will remain largely sunny, with clear skies dominating most of Gauteng. While no rain is expected, the South African Weather Service has issued alerts for high fire danger. These warnings extend across Gauteng and neighbouring provinces, where dry vegetation and intense heat increase the risk of runaway fires.

Joel Guy cautioned residents, saying, “The hot and dry conditions mean fires can spread rapidly, so communities should avoid open flames and monitor outdoor burning activities.”

Outlook for the week

Temperatures are forecast to stay high across Gauteng throughout the week, especially in Pretoria and the eastern parts of the province. While Johannesburg will remain slightly cooler than Pretoria, the city can still expect highs in the upper 20s.

Guy explained, “settled weather dominates for now, with little chance of rainfall in the immediate forecast.”
