How Felix Baumgartner actually died, as it’s claimed he was ‘gone before he hit the ground’

Stuntman Felix Baumgartner tragically passed away this week, but despite paragliding at the time of the accident, the fall was not his alleged cause of death.

Felix Baumgartner, who posted a series of tragic Instagram posts just hours before his death, was an Austrian skydiver and daredevil who was most famed for literally skydiving from space. He is survived by his longtime partner, Mihaela Rădulescu.

“Our community is deeply affected by the tragic disappearance of Felix Baumgartner, a figure of global prominence, a symbol of courage and passion for extreme flight,” the local mayor, Mayor Massimiliano Ciarpella, said in a statement.

How did Felix Baumgartner actually die?

As per local media, and as reported on by the MailOnline, Felix Baumgartner died at around 4 pm on Thursday during a paragliding stunt in Italy.

Felix was said to have been feeling unwell before paragliding in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Italy, but he carried on with the daring fall nonetheless. It’s been reported that he suffered a heart attack during the flight, which meant he lost control and plummeted to the ground. This is yet to be confirmed by the coroner.

A hotel worker was allegedly struck by Felix as he came to the ground, suffering minor head injuries, which were treated at the hospital. Felix was not so lucky, though, experiencing cardiac arrest as panicked hotel guests attempted CPR in full view of groups of kids who were swimming in the pool.

Firefighters, the Croce Verde, emergency medical services, and the Carabinieri were all on scene, but Felix was never loaded into the helicopter because he was already gone. His wife, Mihaela Schwartzenberg, was also there as they were on holiday at the time, but she is yet to make an official statement.

More details are expected to follow soon as officials look into his tragic passing.
