Since October 2025, Mexican citizens can process the new biometric CURPa document that seeks to reinforce security and authenticity in the identification of people. This improved version of the Unique Population Registration Code incorporates biometric technology to offer a more reliable and fraud-resistant system.

What is biometric CURP?
Unlike the traditional CURPthis new version includes biometric data such as:
- Fingerprints
- facial recognition
- Iris scan
- Electronic signature
- Unique information linked to the citizen
The objective is for this document to function as a comprehensive official identification, useful in government procedures, health services, education and more.
How to schedule your appointment to process the biometric CURP?
If you live in Mexico City and want to obtain your biometric CURP, the first step is to schedule an appointment online. Here we explain how to do it, step by step:
- Enter the official site of the Government of Mexico City or directly to the section quotes from RENAPO.
- In the procedures menu, select the option “Biometric CURP”.
- Choose the office closest to your home.
- Choose one available date and time for your appointment.
- Complete the form with your personal data: name, date of birth, sex and place of birth.
- Confirm your appointment and save the receipt or code generated to present it on the day of the procedure.
Documents necessary for the procedure
On the day of your appointment, you must come with a valid official identification such as INE, passport or birth certificate. In the case of minors, it is mandatory that they come accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
With this new system, the Government seeks to modernize identity processes and facilitate access to public services.
