Brixton London Underground station has been closed after a fire erupted at a nearby storage unit.
A large plume of smoke was seen towering above the shopping street, Electric Avenue, this morning.
Some 70 firefighters were called to the road at 9.40am, with those living near the blaze advised to keep their windows and doors shut.
The fire brigade said Brixton Tube station is ‘temporarily closed’ due to ‘smoke travel’, while Stockwell Tube station is exit-only as the final part of the line is closed.
A witness said at around 11am that the fire seemed to be under control.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
