Since debuting back in August of 2021, Only Murders in the Building has been a hit on Hulu with its star-studded cast, comedic hijinks, and mysterious plots. Fortunately for its fans, it will be back for another season – but in a new location.
Season 5 of the hit show began streaming on September 9, 2025, with the finale airing on October 28, 2025. However, fans did not have to wait long to hear that the show had been renewed for a sixth season, as the announcement came the same day that the finale was released.
The Show’s Hit Popularity
Starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building is a mysterious comedy that follows a team of strangers who form an unlikely friendship and bond by starting a true crime podcast to solve a series of murders that occur in their New York apartment building.
Since its debut, the series has garnered widespread critical acclaim, with critics praising its witty take on crime fiction along with the standout performances of its cast.
It has earned nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
For their performances, Martin, Short, and Gomez have each received acting nominations at both the Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, while the ensemble cast of the fourth season was honored with the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Renewed For Season 6, New Location
The first five seasons of the show have been a hit. And with season five officially wrapping up on Tuesday, Hulu officially announced that the show had been renewed for yet another season. However, this time, it will take place in a new city.
While the previous five seasons took place primarily in New York City, with a portion of the fourth season set in Los Angeles, the sixth season will take place in London, marking the first time the show has taken place outside of the United States.
Though anyone who watched the season finale knows that the show still managed to tie it back to a murder in the building.
