The husband of Kristin Cabot, the former Astronomer HR executive caught up in this summer’s Coldplay “Kiss Cam” controversy, has broken his silence following reports of their pending divorce.
Kristin Cabot, 52, filed for divorce on Aug. 13, nearly a month after she was caught on camera snuggling with her boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, at a Coldplay concert in Boston. The impromptu reveal wound up costing Byron and Cabot their jobs.
However, it is not what led to the end of Cabot’s marriage, her husband Andrew Cabot told PEOPLE.
In a message delivered through a spokeswoman, Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum, says he and his wife were “were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert.”

“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,” the spokeswoman added. “Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”
The spokeswoman also said there will be “no further comment” from Cabot on the matter.
Andrew Cabot has two children from a previous marriage. He and Kristin did not share children together.
Caught on camera
Kristin Cabot, who was hired as the head of HR at Astronomer last year, attended the Coldplay show at Gillette Stadium on July 16 when they were unexpectedly shown snuggling up on the Jumbotron.
The two immediately looked embarrassed and separated from each other while attempting to hide their faces.
“Whoa, look at these two,” joked Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
By the next morning, Byron and Cabot’s identities had been confirmed online, leading to an onslaught of social media jokes and negative headlines. Byron resigned by the end of the weekend, with Cabot following suit days later.
“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” Astronomer said in a statement at the time.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
