With the purpose of generating spaces for dialogue to gather the opinions of said sector, the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) held the first consultative forum on the design and implementation of affirmative actions for the Ordinary Local Electoral Process 2026–2027aimed at young people.

At the meeting, various topics were addressed, such as the political representation of young people and the challenges and barriers they face to fully exercise their political-electoral rights.
He IECM recalled that according to the Local Code of Institutions and Electoral Procedures, Political parties are obliged to nominate young people in at least 7 formulas for relative majority deputies; at least 4 formulas for proportional representation deputations and at least one formula in each template for councillors.
With the aim of reaching a greater number of people, the IECM enabled a virtual questionnaire available on the microsite of IECM Affirmative Actions: https://www.iecm.mx/www/sites/acciones_afirmativas_2025/from October 18 to November 23, 2025.
The results of the consultation will be systematized and analyzed between November 2025 and March 2026, when the main findings are announced.
He IECM It will also consult with representatives of youth organizations, student groups and associations that promote the rights and political participation of youth.

The next information forum for young people will be held on November 12, at the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey, South Campus, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
