Two stars of The Inbetweeners have reunited with a surprise selfie ahead of the show’s potential reboot.

Martin Trenaman and Robin Weaver, who played the parents of Simon (Joe Thomas), sent fans into a frenzy with their social media post.

Sharing an image of themselves to X, the duo could be seen smiling alongside the caption: ‘I give you Mr and Mrs Cooper.’

The pair starred in all three series of the Channel 4 sitcom from 2008 to 2010, playing Alan and Pamela, before reprising their roles in the 2011 and 2014 films.

Taking to social media, fans were hopeful that an Inbetweeners reboot would involve them.

Replying to the tweet, @MoneyGFX said: ‘If inbetweeners is getting a new series surely we gotta have a final farewell to phoneshop!?’, to which Martin replied: ‘Let’s hope so.’

@Ryan_Thomas123 also wrote: ‘Bit of a coincidence you posting this after all the inbetweeners come back rumours 🤞🏻’

Meanwhile, @Bags_001 added: ‘Please tell me you guys have been sounded out about the new series.’

This comes after Thomas, 41, addressed The Inbetweeners reunion after the gang were last seen on holiday in the 2014 sequel film.

Thomas, who played spiky-haired Simon, issued a warning to fans about what to expect from a reboot.

‘I feel enormously close to all those people and, obviously, I love spending time with them,’ Thomas told The Sun

‘If there was an opportunity to spend more time with them in any capacity, I’d love that… that’s pretty much all I can say.’

It’s still unclear in what capacity or even what TV platform the show might return, but production companies Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions have struck an agreement which ‘paves the way for the return of the hit comedy title.’

In a joint statement, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said: ‘It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).’

Banijay’s chief executive, Patrick Holland, also told The Sun he was ‘delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners’.

He explained: ‘They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audiences old and new.’

Inbetweeners is available to stream on Channel 4.
