Inside the curious Drag Race story of Robbie Turner and her lie about a fatal Uber crash

It has been nearly 10 years since Robbie Turner competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race season eight, and placed a respectable seventh. Robbie Turner was one to watch from the start on Drag Race, due to her connection to season five winner (and eventual queen queens in all winners) Jinkx Monsoon. Jinkx and Robbie were close sisters in the Seattle drag scene, and Jinkx endorsed Robbie’s addition tape. Robbie had memorable moments on Drag Race, and was definitely a queen everyone would have expected to see back by now on an All Stars. But the thing is, Robbie Turner has not been heard from since 2018 – after the Drag Race queen admitted to a lie about an Uber crash in which she claimed the driver had died.

Here’s the full story of what happened with Robbie Turner and the Uber saga, after 2025 Drag Race AlL Stars queens have begun sharing their intel of where Robbie is actually now all these years later.

In 2018, Robbie told this story

In an Instagram post that’s still up, Robbie Turner told her followers that she had been in a crash that was fatal for her Uber driver.

In it, Robbie wrote “Last night on my way home my Uber was struck by a drunk driver. I had closed my eyes briefly because I was exhausted after a week of shows, then it happened. No screeching of tires. No gasp from my driver. Just silence followed by me opening my eyes in an ambulance.

“I heard the collision for a second, but quickly hit my head & it was over. The driver did not survive upon impact as I was told. They ran tests on me at the hospital, but outside of my shoulder feeling jammed & my right eye hurting, I only have a bruise. Grateful that it wasn’t worse for me, but very sore and stiff today.

“Wear a seatbelt. I did. It changed what could have been a very different post. Thank you for all the kind notes I have already received.”

This was obviously met with an outpouring of love from Drag Race fans, but the Robbie Turner Uber saga wasn’t exactly what it seemed.

Media outlets found inconsistencies with Robbie’s story

After there was some research done into what Robbie was claiming, it was discovered neither Uber not Seattle police had any record of a fatal crash or a driver death on the evening of April 14th – which was when Robbie claimed it happened.

Robbie Turner then confessed that the crash with Uber didn’t happen, and the Drag Race star made a big post.

Robbie then explained “Much public attention followed my recent posts on social media. These were posts I regret sharing. I don’t remember much of that night, including leaving my place of employment. I do recall waking up bruised, disoriented, sore, and with an extremely vivid recollection of events that had, to my mind, absolutely occurred. It is clear to me that they did not, in fact, happen.

“The past few months have been very stressful for my family and I. The stress, depression, heartache and confusion during this time have overwhelmed me. On the advice of physicians and caring mental health professionals, I am taking a break from work and social media to spend more time with family and practice some important self-care.

“In addition, I apologize to Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s CEO, for naming a company I respect in such a negative public way. That’s not who I am, but it’s what I did, and I am sorry for it. I also extend my apologies to Queer Bar, as well as anyone who may have felt that my original post lacked sensitivity. For that I am also regretful.

“I appreciate the continued support of my fans and respect for my privacy during this time. I hope to take better care of myself, learn from this painful season and nourish what brought me joy about my art to begin with.”

This was posted in April 2018 – and to this day, Robbie Turner has not posted publicly again. But this year, some of the All Stars 10 queens have shared some insight on where Robbie is now and what she’s been up to in the retreat from being in the public eye.

Where is Robbie Turner now?

In the press with Entertainment Weekly in the build up to the currently airing Drag Race All Stars 10, some insight from the queens into what Robbie Turner was doing now was raised. Robbie’s fellow season eight sister Acid Betty said “I cannot find Robbie. I literally cannot find her. I’ve reached out to her on Instagram, I text her, I always email her.”

Following that, Irene (who is, like Robbie, from Seattle) and Bosco gave more info on what they know about what Robbie’s been doing. Irene says Robbie is based in Chehalis, and even claimed that Robbie has ironically been spending some time working as an Uber driver! “After everything happened, she did spend a little time as an Uber driver, but she moved back home to Chehalis,” Irene said.

Wild.
