LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – The discussion about a possible altcoin season is gaining momentum, but the indicators speak a different language. While Bitcoin and other safe-haven assets are surging this year, altcoins are falling short of expectations. However, experts see potential for a turnaround should the economic conditions change.

Speculation about an upcoming altcoin season is increasing, but current indicators paint a different picture. Despite Bitcoin’s impressive 680% rise since bottoming in November 2022, most altcoins are underperforming this year. This is mainly because investors are focusing on safe investments to avoid geopolitical tensions and trade conflicts.
However, some analysts, like ‘Ash Crypto’, are predicting a massive liquidity shift that could lead to a parabolic rise in altcoins. This assessment is based on the expectation that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates and loosen monetary policy, which in turn could direct liquidity towards riskier assets such as altcoins.
Another analyst, ‘Crypto GEMs’, points to historical data showing that a liquidity injection from the US Federal Reserve has triggered altcoin seasons in the past. Additionally, there are over 150 altcoin ETFs awaiting SEC approval, which could serve as another catalyst for the market.
Nevertheless, the altcoin seasonal indices show a different picture. The Blockchain Center’s Altseason Index is at 35 out of 100, the lowest value since July. CoinMarketCap and CryptoRank are also reporting low values, suggesting that it is currently still a Bitcoin season. The few altcoins that are performing positively, such as Binance Coin and Hyperliquid, are exceptions in an otherwise weak market.
