A report published by the Italian website Shinari Economy shed light on a new technology created by Chinese researchers that aims to reduce the radar signature of combat aircraft with the aim of helping them hide, so that they are not detected by radars.
The author of the report, Fabio Lugano, said that this innovation, developed by researchers from the Chinese army and the Chinese Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, depends on combining the fiber plant with nanoparticles of nickel and cobalt oxide, to make an ultra-fine compound capable of absorbing electromagnetic waves and making aircraft invisible to radars.

According to the author, the innovation reveals an unprecedented breakthrough in stealth technologies, as through this low-cost coating, China can solve a very complex problem in response to the latest technologies invented by the West in the field of air surveillance.
Special recipe
The writer stated that Chinese researchers have developed an exciting engineering process to transform fiber into a material that highly absorbs radio waves.
The first stage of this process consists of drying the fiber and then converting it into a carbon-based structure through carbonization processes at high temperatures, which produces a three-dimensional porous structure.
In the second stage, the carbonized structure is combined with magnetic nanoparticles of nickel-cobalt oxide, to obtain a compound that makes the most of the inherent natural properties of the fiber plant.
The writer explained that combining nickel-cobalt with the carbonized structure produces a material that absorbs radar waves instead of reflecting them, especially within the “KU” range (i.e., frequencies between 12 and 18 GHz), which are the frequencies used by radars charged with monitoring warplanes.
He added that the thickness of the coating does not exceed 4 millimeters, which makes it very light and easy to apply to the aircraft structure. It has a wave absorption capacity of more than 99.99%, and can reduce the signal reflected from the aircraft’s body by up to 700 times, which makes it more difficult to detect.
This innovation depends on combining the fiber plant with nanoparticles of nickel and cobalt oxide, to make an ultra-fine compound capable of absorbing electromagnetic waves, and making aircraft invisible to radars.
specifications
The size of the vertical radar section decreases from 50 square meters to less than 1 square meter when the plane is coated with this material, which makes the large fighter appear on radar screens to be the size of a small drone.
The writer confirms that the secret of the effectiveness of this coating lies in the natural structure of the fiber plant, a structure that maintains its structure after the carbonization process, as it is an interconnected three-dimensional network of cellulose fibers, similar to a “microscopic forest.”
The writer believes that this innovation gives China a very important strategic advantage, as Western countries invest billions of dollars in developing radars and satellites, while Beijing responds with low-cost technology derived from natural matter capable of neutralizing Western superiority in the field of space surveillance if the innovation succeeds.
