There’s a dark cloud hanging over Walford next week as the truth behind Zoe Slater’s (Michelle Ryan) shooting threatens to explode, and at the heart of the shocking twist are, of course, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).

Next week, Zoe is still traumatised after the shooting, despite police assurances that the incident wasn’t a targeted attack.

But behind closed doors, a dangerous secret is simmering, and Jack is starting to buckle under the weight of his guilt.

After being discharged from the hospital, Zoe returns to the Slater household, where she’s warmly welcomed, but it’s clear the trauma hasn’t left her. Overwhelmed by the attention and still paranoid for her safety, she flees the house and finds herself at the café, where things only get worse.

There, she’s confronted by Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig), who can’t hide her anger as she questions Zoe about her history with dad Den Watts (Leslie Grantham).

Things become heated until Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) and Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) are forced to intervene, diffusing the row.

But Vicki’s not done, she follows Zoe to The Albert and the confrontation continues in front of stunned punters.

Later, Zoe attempts to relax at The Vic with the rest of the Slaters, but her anxiety spirals when she discovers that Freddie (Bobby Brazier) and Mo (Laila Morse) have been sharing details of her ordeal online.

Things get worse when she learns that a local newspaper has picked up the story, publishing an article that may have exposed her to serious risk.

Rattled, Zoe leaves quietly and places a phone call to someone from her past, but who is it?

Despite Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Anthony’s attempts to reassure her, Zoe is convinced she’s putting her family in danger. She packs her bags and prepares to leave Walford for good, until Stacey (Lacey Turner) steps in, begging her to stay.

After Zoe confesses to her violent altercation with Greg (Dean WilliamsoN) and that she fears he may be dead, Stacey insists they need answers.

She turns to Jack, hoping he’ll help, but he refuses. And now we know why.
