Jake Paul Pumped Up About 1 College Football Week 1 Result

College football is officially back and like millions of his fellow Americans, Jake Paul is excited.

Paul, 28, a Cleveland, Ohio native, has made it clear where his college football loyalties lie. He’s a diehard Ohio State fan.

The defending national champion Buckeyes were part of Week 1’s marquee matchup, facing top-ranked Texas. Ohio State came away with the win, shutting down Arch Manning and the Longhorn offense to sew up a 14-7 result.

After the game, an energized Paul celebrated the victory on social media.

“GO BUCKEYES,” he wrote.

An Ohio Statement

Despite winning the national championship last year and being ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 2 in the Coaches Poll entering this season, Ohio State was overshadowed by its opponent heading into Saturday.

Most of the headlines were about Manning, the five-star QB talent with the famous bloodlines, who was finally going to take the reins of the Texas offense after two years as a reserve. However, the OSU defense gave Manning a rude awakening, holding him to 170 yards passing on 17-of-30 attempts with one touchdown and one interception.

The Buckeyes also stuffed Texas four times on fourth down throughout the game, including twice just yards away from a touchdown.

“The story of the game was the defense,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said postgame. “Those fourth-down stops were big.”

What’s next for Jake Paul?

Getting back to Paul, 28, whose most hyped fight of his up-and-coming boxing career came against Mike Tyson back in November. He won his most recent bout on June 28, beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision to move to 12-1 as a fighter.

Paul’s next fight is a scheduled exhibition matchup with Gervonta “Tank” Davis on Nov. 14, which raises eyebrows because of the obvious size disparity between the two.

Paul is 6-foot-1 and weighed 199.4 pounds when he fought Chavez, while Davis is 5-foot-5 and tipped the scales at just under 134 pounds for his most recent bout against Lamont Roach Jr.

“It’s a joke,” boxer Dillon Danis told The Stomping Ground of Paul facing Davis. “He’s a 125-pounder. He wants to be world champion. It’s the same thing as Mike Tyson. They’re going to have a light spar and then at the end they’re going to shake hands, and whatever.”
