Jake Paul is hoping to take a huge step towards a world title shot when he takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr this weekend.
‘The Problem Child’ is back in the ring for the first time since last November’s victory over Mike Tyson, beating the 58-year-old former world champion in a one sided affair that was difficult to watch.
While the win moved Paul to 11-1, it did little to answer questions over his ability to hang with legitimate boxers his own age.
Beating Chavez Jr could go some way in proving he is ready to mix it with the best. The 39-year-old, son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, is a former world champion having held the WBC middleweight title in 2011.
His career has faltered since those heights, losing to UFC legend Anderson Silva five years ago, and fighting just twice since that disastrous night in June 2021.
But he could still represent the biggest test of Paul’s career to date.
