Jameson Has the Ultimate Flask for Football Fans for NFL International Games

Jameson has come up with the perfect way to welcome the NFL to Dublin, Ireland.

The Irish whiskey maker is set to release a limited-edition football-shaped flask this week ahead of the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings scheduled for Sept. 28.

This is not going to fit in your pocket, though. It’s a regulation-sized football that will hold a full fifth of whiskey (or whatever else you might prefer to imbibe on game day).

‘Unofficial Whiskey for Football Fans’

While the NFL recently celebrated its 105th birthday, Jameson dates back to the late 18th century.

Now the two are teaming up to make game day even better with an appropriate accessory for any Irish whiskey fan’s bar cart.

The Jameson Football Flask will be available for purchase starting Sept. 25 via ReserveBar.com at the price of $109.99 (plus tax and shipping), a price that includes a 750ml bottle of Jameson.

Before that date, fans can visit JamesonWhiskey.com/Jameson-Fall-Sports to be notified when the Football Flasks go on sale.

To commemorate the occasion, Jameson has also dubbed itself the unofficial whiskey for football fans.

A First for Dublin

Although the NFL has been playing regular season games overseas for two decades, the Steelers-Vikings game will be the first in Dublin.

The Steelers have been designated the home team, and they were invited because of the family history of the team’s primary owners.

The Rooney family traces roots back to Newry, County Down, according to the NFL, and the late Dane Rooney served as ambassador to Ireland from 2009-12. His son, Art Rooney II, is currently team president.

“The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there, but also to play in front of the growing number of Steelers fans in Ireland,” Art Rooney II said in a press release when the game was announced. “We are thrilled to be part of this historic event to represent Pittsburgh in a game that brings the NFL to the great sports fans in Ireland.”

Croke Park will host the game.

It is the home of Gaelic football, hosted a Notre Dame football game in 1996 and has been the site of concerts by acts such as U2, Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift.

The Steelers have played in Dublin, but their 1997 game against the Chicago Bears was an exhibition game. That was also at Croke Park.

NFL International Series returns

The first international NFL regular season game was played in Mexico City in 2005.

Since 2008, the league has put at least two games overseas every season.

That expanded to three in 2014, four in ’16 and five in ’17.
