On Aug. 26, 2025, any and all news was eclipsed by Taylor Swift, 35, and Travis Kelce’s, 35, engagement announcement. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned the carousel of Instagram photos showing the two embracing in front of a wooded floral backdrop.
Less than two weeks prior, Swift was a guest on the Kelce brother’s New Heights podcast; the episode quickly climbed the podcast charts and even broke a Guinness World Record. On the morning of Aug. 27, big brother Jason, 37, took to the podcast’s Instagram to send Travis and his soon-to-be-sister-in-law Swift his congratulations.
“We did record this podcast on Monday, Travis’ one day off, so he’s not here to address this himself,” Jason started. Fans have yet to hear what Travis has to say about the engagement—perhaps another record-breaking episode is coming soon? “We felt necessary as a team…to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged! The proposal heard round the world! F—ck yeah!”
The Kelce parents Donna and Ed are equally as excited for their son. Donna “liked” the Instagram post, which now has over 28 million likes. Speaking with News 5 Cleveland, Ed revealed the engagement happened “not quite two weeks ago” at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. “…To just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other, it’s truly kinda neat.”
Now, fans can’t wait for Jason’s sure-to-be-epic best man speech. There’s just one question—will the Mummers costume make an appearance?

Nothing’s been confirmed, but fans are already anticipating Jason’s toast. Given his larger-than-life personality—and love for Philadelphia’s Mummers Parade—many are joking about whether his best man speech will involve a Mummers costume.
Other celebrity reactions to the engagement
The comments on Swift’s post are turned off. But that didn’t stop celebrities of all kinds from sending their congrats. Brittany Mahomes, 29, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 29, took to her Instagram Stories to wish the couple well.
“Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love,” she wrote with a white heart and crying-happy-faced emojis. “Just so happy for these two.” Patrick also shared Swift’s post to his IG Stories adding three red hearts.
Several other celebs have chimed in regarding this news as well. Even President Donald Trump, 79, commented.
“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” he said in a cabinet meeting on Aug. 26 (via X). “I think he’s a great player, he’s a great guy. I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.”
