Country music star Jelly Roll has been married to his wife, Bunnie Xo, for nearly a decade after he proposed to her onstage in 2016. However, it sounds like the loving couple hit a pretty significant rough patch several years ago.
During a recent interview, Jelly Roll admitted that he actually cheated on his beloved wife several years ago, and he made it clear that it was one of the biggest mistakes of his entire adult life.
‘One of the Worst Moments of My Adulthood’
Jelly Roll admits that he does not talk about his affair publicly all that often, but he recently broke his silence on his mistake on an Oct. 21 episode of the Human School podcast.
“One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he said on the podcast. “Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back.”
Jelly Roll did not go into specifics about the affair, but he did say that it came after he surrounded himself with bad people.
“I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives. When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people that were doing cocaine,” he explained. “I used to be proud of long-standing friendships just because they had a number attached to them. Horrible humans. But I would just be proud to say, ‘That dude’s been with me 12 years.’ [bad] human!”
The country music star said he now surrounds himself with “only be around people I want to be like” and who push him to be better.
Stronger Than They’ve Ever Been
While the affair did result in the couple breaking up briefly in 2018, they are now back together, and it sounds like things are better than they’ve ever been.
The country music star said on the podcast that it took “a lot of work to repair” their relationship, but that they are now “stronger than we could have ever been.”
“I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair, and I’m in way glad it happened, but man, I’m proud of who we are today,” he said. “I truly am.”
The couple recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary.
