Jelly Roll is opening up about a time that he calls the absolute worst moment of his adult life. The “Need a Favor” singer talks about repairing his marriage to his wife, Bunnie Xo, after he had an affair a few years after their marriage.
“One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he said in an episode of the Human School podcast.
“Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back,” he added.
The couple recently celebrated their ninth anniversary, having tied the knot in 2016. In 2018, Bunny alluded to the couple having briefly broken up in a TikTok video.
Jelly Roll admits that the affair is something he doesn’t like to talk about publicly and didn’t share any specific details. Since then, he’s put in a lot of work to repair their relationship and they are “stronger” than ever.
“I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair, and I’m in way glad it happened, but man, I’m proud of who we are today,” he said. “I truly am.”
The singer puts part of the blame on the people he was surrounded by at the time, who “were cheating on their wives.” He also admits to being around people who were doing cocaine at the same time he was.
Along the way, Jelly Roll soon realized the “long-standing friendships” he had were bad influences and nothing to be proud of. The people who have been with him for years ended up being “horrible humans.”
Jelly Roll is now focused on surrounding himself with people who will better his life and putting his heart into his marriage. He has also received praise for his significant weight loss.
