Jeremy Clarkson has said he is ‘seriously considering’ banning people with food intolerances from his pub after a near scam.
The former Top Gear presenter and star of Amazon Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm has been an open book when it comes to detailing his farm’s challenges.
Last month, the 65-year-old shared the ‘enormous disruption’ that was caused by an outbreak of bovine tuberculosis (bTB).
Now, however, Clarkson has shed light on the moment a gluten intolerant customer claimed she had been given beer instead of cider which made her ill, meaning the pub had to reimburse her.
Speaking in his column for The Sun, he said: ‘Food intolerance enthusiasts will claim after they leave that you poisoned them and that you must now give them 50,000 of your pounds.
‘I’m seriously thinking of banning people with food intolerances. I know it would be commercial suicide but they are just so annoying.’
In the end, the 65-year-old avoided having to pay out as the boozer’s CCTV footage showed that she hadn’t been drinking beer.
This comes after he revealed that his pub, the Farmer’s Dog, was targeted by hackers who stole £27,000 from its accounting system.
Sharing the news in his column for The Sun, he said: ‘Jaguar Land Rover had to shut down its production lines this week after its systems were breached by computer hackers.
‘And we are told similar attacks were launched in recent months on both M&S and the Co-op. But no one thought to mention that my pub, the Farmer’s Dog, has been hit too.’
He continued: ‘It was, though. Someone broke into our accounting system and helped themselves to £27,000.’
The hacking incident is just the latest in a long series of setbacks on the Who Wants to be a Millionaire presenter’s farm, however.
Clarkson recently told how his farm suffered a monumental setback which was ‘a worry for anyone who eats food.’
Taking to X, he vented his frustration at the state of this year’s crops while complaining of the perceived discrepancy between how the farming industry is treated compared to others.
‘It looks like this year’s harvest will be catastrophic,’ he wrote on social media.
‘That should be a worry for anyone who eats food. If a disaster on this scale had befallen any other industry, there would be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth.’
After another user replied that this would be ‘good news’ for vegans, who eat ‘imported soy,’ Jeremy clarified: ‘Er no. It’s the crops that have been disastrous.
‘I planted 400,000 beetroot. Two grew.’
His harvest came after a summer of soaring temperatures in the UK.
