Former President Joe Biden reached a major milestone in his cancer battle.
“Rung the bell! Thank you to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at Penn Medicine. We are so grateful!” Ashley Biden, the daughter of the former president, shared via her Instagram Story on Monday, October 20. “Dad has been so damn brave throughout his treatment. Grateful.”
Ringing the bell is a tradition among cancer patients, marking the completion of a round of treatment.

A spokesperson for Biden confirmed to CNN that he completed a course of radiation therapy as he battles prostate cancer.
News of Biden’s health was released in May, noting that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
Biden broke his silence weeks after his diagnosis was announced, sharing a message via social media.
“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places,” he shared alongside a photo with his wife, Jill Biden, via X on May 19. “Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
