JoJo Siwa has told followers she was distraught as she big goodbye to the UK after spending three weeks with boyfriend Chris Hughes.
The US singer, 22, finally confirmed the romance rumours were true after weeks of speculation as Siwa and Hughes posted a series of seemingly loved up pictures online.
Siwa touched down in London in May to perform a concert and has since been enjoying some quality time with Hughes, 32, who she met and grew close to in the Celebrity Big Brother house this year.
Yet she’s now had to return home to the US and it seems her parting from Hughes might have been as emotional as when he jetted back from the States after a week-long stay, leaving Siwa in tears.
One of Siwa’s fan pages shared a meme on Instagram of a young child crying while trundling a wheelie suitcase in front of Big Ben, captioning it: ‘JoJo leaving the UK’.
The pop star reposted the meme, commenting: ‘Honestly it was worse than this more tears hahaha.’
Although the couple are now embarking on a long-distance relationship, Siwa has said she’s confident they can weather the ocean now in between them.
The pair spent time with Hughes’ parents in the Cotswolds during her stay, enjoying some very public PDA.
While appearing on Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast, Siwa spoke about how the Celebrity Big Brother alums went from friends to couple of the moment.
Siwa explained how Hughes was the one housemate she knew of before she walked into the ITV house, adding: ‘I wasn’t looking to fall for him. He wasn’t looking to fall for me. We were just having so much fun together. Whenever one of us was down, it was the other one of us that helped.’
However, when they left the house, Siwa has said she realised her feelings ran deeper.
‘Leaving the house, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen,’ she said. ‘But I had all these realisations of my life, things that I wasn’t happy (about), that I was being ok with that I should never have been ok with. ”I’m not happy, so I need to handle things”, and I did very quickly once I got out of the house.’
‘Then over a little bit of time I realised that I started to feel something for Christopher that I never intended, but I couldn’t not feel.’
Siwa admitted she was lucky Hughes felt the same, and said she is confident that their relationship will ‘last a lifetime’.
