The Dodgers jumped ahead early at home thanks to a Teoscar Hernández homer in the second inning, followed by a towering shot from Shohei Ohtani in the third that extended Los Angeles’ lead to 2–0. Amid the action, cameras caught Bieber’s reaction to Ohtani’s home run – and it quickly stole the spotlight. However, the Blue Jays stormed back in the fourth with a three-run blast from Alejandro Kirk to take the lead.
SHOHEI OHTANI HITS 2 HOMERS, TIES 119-YEAR-OLD MLB RECORD
Ohtani delivered another historic performance in Game 3 of the World Series, homering twice and tying a 119-year-old MLB record with four extra-base hits at Dodger Stadium. He opened with a ground-rule double in the first inning, blasted a solo shot off Max Scherzer in the third, and added an RBI double in the fifth to fuel a Dodgers rally.
Ohtani then tied the game again in the seventh with his second homer, marking his sixth in the past four games and equaling Corey Seager’s 2020 team record for most postseason homers by a Dodger.
He also became the first player in MLB history with three multi-homer games in a single postseason. Only Frank Isbell (1906) had previously notched four extra-base hits in a World Series game.
Additionally, Ohtani became the first hitter ever to record multiple 12-total-base games in one postseason, joining Babe Ruth in that elite category.
