Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates new era: New captains

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will both have new captains next season.

Kaizer Chiefs are set to part ways with club captain Yusuf Maart. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates recently released Innocent Maela.

Meaning, Nasreddine Nabi and Amakhosi management must appoint a new skipper. Likewise, Adbeslam and Bucs managament will select a new club captain.

CHIEFS SET TO APPOINT A NEW CAPTAIN

Maart is heading for Europe where he will play for SV Reid.

Inacio Miguel has emerged as the favourite to replace Maart as Chiefs captain. He is set to be a regular starter for Nabi’s side going forward. Meanwhile, Zitha Kwinika, Given Msimango and Brandon Petersen are all shortlisted too.

“Zitha Kwinika, Given Msimango, and Brandon Petersen are all candidates for the captaincy,” reputable publication KickOff stated.

However, neither Kwinika nor Msimango are first choice with Nabi preferring Miguel and Rushwin Dortley at the heart of defence. Likewise, Petersen is frequently rotated with Bruce Bvuma. Also, Chiefs are in the market for a new goalkeeper as well.

PIRATES SET TO APPOINT NEW LEADER TO USHER IN NEW ERA

Maela departure has left the next Pirates captain with big boots to fill.

Furtermore, new coach Ouaddou has his work cut out for him as he must select a new captain in addition to the pressure of filling Jose Riveiro’s boots.

As reported on The South African, Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi are the favourites for this coveted Bucs role. Both players have featured prominently in the centre of the Pirates defence.
