Kaizer Chiefs have firmly quashed any talk of Elias Mokwana’s potential signing, despite mounting speculation linking the former PSL winger with a dramatic return to South African football.
The source confirmed that Mokwana is not part of their transfer plans this window.
“Chiefs are not interested in Elias Mokwana. If it was last season maybe it could have been true but not at the moment,” said the source.
The club has shifted its focus to more strategic signings as it aims to rebuild ahead of the upcoming season.
Oswin Appollis the real target
Rather than revisiting interest in Mokwana, Kaizer Chiefs have turned their attention to another rising Bafana Bafana winger, Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis. The young talent has caught the eye of the club’s technical team, with discussions reportedly progressing well.
A trusted member of the coaching setup revealed. “If you were talking about Appollis I could have agreed with you. It’s an open secret that Chiefs are interested in him.”
Both parties are reportedly finalising the last logistical details as negotiations reach an advanced stage. Appollis, known for his pace and creativity, could be the spark Amakhosi need to reinvigorate their frontline.
Chiefs focused on squad reinforcement
The source emphasised the club’s current recruitment strategy.
“Yes, the team is looking at beefing up the squad but it’s obviously not Elias Mokwana. That’s not true.”
This signals a clear shift in strategy for the club, opting for youth, form, and potential over nostalgic returns. As transfer talk heats up, fans will be watching closely to see whether Chiefs can finally land Appollis and reshape their fortunes ahead of the new campaign.
Will Appollis be a good fit at Kaizer Chiefs?
