Kaizer Chiefs eye signing in Portugal: Shinga nearing completion

Kaizer Chiefs have ramped up their pursuit of Nkanyiso Shinga, with the Portuguese-based defender edging closer to free agency as his contract at FC Alverca expires on 30 June. The Soweto giants are poised to swoop in and secure his signature without paying a transfer fee.

Amakhosi have been tracking Shinga for some time, and with his current deal set to run out, the timing appears perfect for the club to strike. Sources connected to European football have confirmed that Chiefs are actively working on the move.

“The club is believed to be waiting for this month-end when Nkanyiso (Shinga) is expected to be a free agent and that’s what the team is hoping for. They are really happy with what they have seen in him and the free agent part could work to Chiefs’ advantage and they are apparently working on that,” a source revealed.

Chiefs prioritise left-back role before Euro tour

As preparations continue for the club’s pre-season trip to the Netherlands, management remains focused on strengthening specific areas, particularly the left side of defence.

“Yes, the left back and the striking department are the priorities for the club to sign at the moment. And that’s why their main focus is looking at which players they can get. There are a few they have listed and Nkanyiso Shinga is one of those on the wanted list,” another source disclosed.

Shinga’s rise from KZN Academy to Portuguese football

Nkanyiso Shinga, a product of the KwaZulu-Natal Academy, currently plies his trade at Portuguese outfit FC Alverca. The defender enjoyed regular game time last season, catching the attention of scouts beyond Portugal.

With no transfer fee required and positional gaps to fill. Kaizer Chiefs may soon land a versatile defender with international experience, just in time for a critical new campaign.the
