Kaizer Chiefs fans call for club to sign TS Galaxy star

Kaizer Chiefs fans are keen for the club to widen their striker search to some of the less fashionable Betway Premiership clubs.

21-year-old Thokozani Sibanyoni is a name to come up more than once.

The TS Galaxy striker bagged two goals in two Nedbank Cup outings last term.

Chiefs fans want Sibanyoni

More than once, we’ve seen Kaizer Chiefs fans in the comment section mentioning the name of Thokozani Sibanyoni. To go with his goals in the Nedbank Cup, Sibanyoni also grabbed a goal in his 10 Betway Prem outings. Chiefs are reportedly after talented teenage striker Luke Baartman from Cape Town Spurs, but Sibanyoni is also an option with more recent PSL experience.

Is Mdu Shabalala finished?

At the start of the 2024-2025 season, Mdu Shabalala was a critical component in the Chiefs’ side, operating from the number 10 role. His output was healthy, too. However, that has dwindled dramatically. In 27 league appearances, he only got four goals and an assist. He only played a cameo substitute role in the club’s Nedbank Cup final win over Pirates.

What does the future hold for Shabalala at Kaizer Chiefs?

Only a bold man would predict that Mduduzi Shabalala will leave Chiefs in the winter, but his long-term prospects don’t look great. The writing isn’t on the wall yet, however, and it’s up to the player to prove how much he wants to become a legend at the club. If big offers come in from any of the wealthy clubs in South Africa, or better yet, abroad, Chiefs might have to consider them seriously. The money could go towards two or even three new young prospects playing in South Africa.

Thibang ‘Cafu’ Phete has dropped a strong hint that he’s ready to return home. Local outlet FARPost believe Sekhukhune are favourites to sign a man whose extensive experience includes stints in Portugal and the UAE. Phete has four caps for South Africa. Could Kaizer Motaung Junior and his colleagues have done more to convince the player to join their project?
