As Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates begin to advance plans and preparations for next season, including making some moves in the transfer market, an interesting story has emerged to link right back Thabiso Monyane with a move from one Soweto giant to another.
According to SABC Sport, Monyane’s contract with Orlando Pirates runs out this month, and there has been no indication that a new agreement will materialise.
At a time when Monyane has seen his game-time at the Buccaneers begin to diminish, while suffering with some injury set backs, it’s reported that he has been “offered to Amakhosi as a free agent”.
Kaizer Chiefs to swoop in for Orlando Pirates stalwart?
It will certainly be interesting to see whether Chiefs take up this offer, or if Pirates opt to offer Monyane a new deal before 30 June despite being well covered in the right back position.
Monyane began his footballing career in 2012 when he attended trials with the Buccaneers, and then played his way up the ranks to secure a professional debut with the first team in the opening game of the 2019/20 season.
The South African youth international has since gone on to feature in nearly 100 games for the Buccaneers across all competitions, but it remains to be seen if his time with Pirates has now come to an end.
