Kaizer Chiefs: Six matches but ONLY three goals scored

Former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Tsepo Masilela is concerned about Amakhosi’s attack going into the new season.

The Soweto giants only signed Flavio da Silva in the attacking department, having parted ways with Ranga Chivaviro. In the six matches they played so far in pre-season, Chiefs only netted three times.

Speaking on Soccer Beat, the retired defender said it should concern the management that Amakhosi have only scored three times so far in pre-season.

“They need goals; if you don’t score goals, you don’t win soccer games. Listen, they’ve played six games, if I’m not mistaken and they have only scored three goals.

Masilela said it should worry Kaizer Chiefs given the fact that they failed to score against a side like Asante Kotoko.

“If you struggle to score against them, then it’s a worry going into the league, you’re going to face stronger opposition, more organised and they can hurt you.”

To be honest, they don’t look ready, especially looking at their final game. I’m also going to mention Lilepo, how he came last season and how everyone was talking about him. Since pre-season, he hasn’t threatened; he has dropped a bit. It tells you that they need to work very hard in attack,” Masilela said.

Kaizer Chiefs struggling for goals, new striker needed

When asked if Chiefs should sign former Orlando Pirates star Zakhele Lepasa, he felt the lanky striker might not be fit enough.

“My worry with Lepasa is that he hasn’t played football in a while and we don’t know how long it will take for him to get back into the groove,” he said.

“He is available for free if they can get a deal done. We are not seeing much of Ashley (Du Preez), or (Tashreeq) Morris, so we need three or four upfront,” he said.

The former Bafana Bafana left-back encouraged Kaizer Chiefs to sign Dzenan Zajmovic.

He has good touches, has football brains and he can link up play, drop and play in spaces. That’s what i like, he is more involved, he is not just a guy waiting to score goals,” he added.
