Kaizer Chiefs have stepped up efforts to trim their squad before the 2025/2026 campaign kicks off, and newly formed Siwelele FC have already made their move for one of the club’s out-of-favour stars.
Amakhosi plan to part ways with several players who no longer fit into their technical team’s strategy, including winger Tebogo Potsane, despite him having a year left on his current contract.
Siwelele make enquiry for Chiefs winger
A source confirmed that Siwelele FC, who recently took over SuperSport United’s PSL status, have identified the 31-year-old Potsane as a priority signing.
“Most of the players at SuperSport United which Siwelele FC bought are running out on their (respective) contracts. And the club is looking at reinforcing with new players. They have enquired about Tebogo Potsane from Kaizer Chiefs. The club has already started their training in Johannesburg and they are believed to have seen that they need a player like Potsane in the team and that’s why they have enquired about him,” a source revealed.
Potsane falls out of favour at Naturena
Potsane joined the Glamour Boys in 2023 on a three-year deal expected to run until 30 June 2026. But since arriving at Naturena, the former Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM winger has struggled to cement a regular starting place.
Chiefs are now open to letting the player move on. And the enquiry from Siwelele FC may provide both parties with a timely solution.
What’s next for Potsane?
Although he remains contracted for another season. Potsane features prominently on Chiefs’ list of possible departures as the club rebuilds under its evolving technical direction.
The interest from Siwelele FC, who have already begun pre-season training in Johannesburg. Signals a fresh opportunity for the experienced winger to revive his career with a club looking to make a strong impression in their debut PSL campaign.
Will the Kaizer Chiefs forgotten man make the move?
